I'm back!I had a great little trip yesterday. It was exactly what I needed. A little time by myself driving and dreaming, singing and thinking. The scenery on the ride down is majestic to say the least. The Finger Lakes region never ceases to amaze me. Rolling hills, thin long lakes, and very green grass compliments of Mother Nature.
I stopped on the way down at Conesus Lake and spent some time at a little park I used to visit when I was in college. It's quiet there and it was the perfect place to stop and sit in the sun, eat an apple, and read. I'm enjoying This Organic Life, by Joan Dye Gussow. Currently, it is the book that travels everywhere with me in my bag waiting to be read in doctors' offices and at the gym.
Off to Hemlock. Of course, I was so into taking pictures my batteries died and I didn't have a spare set with me. I had a great time and we chatted and chatted. It was so nice to sit and relax and spend time with people I love to be around. We had a yummy lunch and drank lots of iced tea. We laughed a lot and watched the chickens run around the yard. There was shopping at the little country store down the street that is for sale (oh how I would love to buy it in my dreams!). We talked knitting and purling and made plans to attend the fiber festival there next month. Until then I will dream of homespun alpaca yarn and red barns. I will drink iced tea and knit and think of quietness and friendship.Have a lovely weekend!

Welcome home. Singing in the car is great, isn't it? My favorite is singing in the car with my sister...sometimes I'll call her to sing over the phone together if the right song comes on. I'm going to check out the book you mentioned.
That sounds like such a perfect day. ;) I love the photos.
sounds like you had a GREAT day!
:D
What a great trip! I love that book, read it quite awhile ago, maybe need to dig it out again.
Hi Jessica!
Thanks for stopping by my blog :)
I look fwd to having a good look at yours!
What a sweet little get away! Sounds like just what you needed after a busy year of school and work. It is nice to catch up with old friends. Chickens are our answer to not having television, they are very entertaining. I read Joan's book a while ago, it is fun!
I think a lot of folks are having "staycations" this year. It's been kind of fun going to nearby places I've always wanted to see. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
Sounds lovely - happy weekend to you, too!
Sounds like a great trip--I've always been curious to go to the Finger Lakes. I have that book, too, in the enormous pile by my bed. I'll move it to the top now!
Hi! I am new here, Thanks for stopping by my blog! I've been looking around and you have many interests! That's great! I'm glad you had some much deserved time to yourself! I'll be back to visit you.
sounds like a great trip. i did one too many times not making sure my battery was charged for taking pictures and now a batter charged for my camera when we are going places is on the top of my list! thanks for the compliments on my pictures, i use a "casio exilim". with 7.2 mega pixels and an exilim optical of 3x. it is a great camera that didn't cost a fortune!
Isn't it great to get away once in a while? I am glad your trip was a success!
Ha! I live on Hemlock Street!
