The Big Woods

The other morning we went out on an early morning hike. I love taking hikes no mater what the season, but I particularly love them throughout autumn and into winter. On smaller holidays, it is almost a tradition to take a hike. For almost as long as I can remember, my family has taken a hike together on New Year's Day to help celebrate the new year.

I am lucky enough to live in a town that has plenty of hiking trails and parks for my hiking pleasure. These hiking preserves are stunning and I always feel like I am taking a step back in time and traveling many miles away when I am in the woods. It is so quiet and peaceful. Once I am in the woods far enough I have no cares in the world.
I went out to the hiking trail on a cool, almost frosty, morning with my camera in hand. I snapped and snapped away. Something about the particular time of the season and the time of the day was very inspiring. I love days when most of my shots are not wonky and weird.

Anyways, I've been toying around recently with starting a flickr page. This past weekend I finally hunkered down and began uploading some of my absolute favorite photos. I don't know why I was dilly-dallying because I love it over there...so much photographic inspiration!!

Have a great weekend (and Soup Swap on Monday!!)

That looks so lovely. I wish we had autumn woods! All we have is cactus. And rock. And lizards. And ants. Mean ants.

I love the woods. We were supposed to get out of the city (Chicago) this weekend to Michigan, but our plans fell through...maybe I can try and get a hike in anyway out in the suburbs? Not the same thing as the REAL woods though!
