Saturday Afternoon Thoughts

Just a few thoughts for this Saturday afternoon...

:: I'm knee-deep in decorating here. No more bachelorette pad-looking futon. New lamps. Art on the walls. General decorating which makes me feel really, really good. Yes, I am the girl who moved and didn't put a picture on the wall for almost two months. Things are changing. I'll share the results soon.

:: I don't think I take enough self-portraits. I like seeing the 'faces' behind the words of blogs I read. I'm thinking about a monthly portrait--that would be fun. Along with that, I'm watching my camera dvd this week.

:: I'm reading Knitter's Almanac like a novel. Elizabeth Zimmermann uses the word 'pithy' a lot and I love that.

:: The Olympics are making my nights. I've plugged in the TV to watch skiing, curling, and ice skating. I'm not a big sports watcher, but I love the Olympics.

:: I really want to make this. I just need to come across a drill...

:: I am going to run a road race this spring. There I said it. Now that it is out there I really am going to do it.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

I love the self portrait idea, I too really like to see the faces behind the words. I also love the soap bottle, I am definitely making one of those. Good luck training for your run, I need to put something out there also. It always gives me a boost in motivation, which is really needed around here. Happy Saturday.

I like seeing the pictures behind the blogs too... and the monthly self-portrait is a good idea... except that I hate having my picture taken! I would much rather be behind the camera! I can't wait to see your decorating projects... I love your style. I asked my hubby if he could drill the hole so I could make the soap dispenser... he can so now I have to find a jar in my thrifting ventures! Have a great weekend!

I don't do much in the way of self portraits myself, so congrats on getting started. And good luck with that road race. Is it a marathon?

okay, I love that jar. And, I love your self-portrait. Now, I have to look for the DVD that came with my camera. I have a Nikon D40 and still have lots to learn it is just not my highest priority.

a run sound so fun. I am going to run again soon. It is in my blood.

you must go to the home despot and buy yourself a drill. posthaste. I had one as a college student. Women need their own drills. You know, for doing stuff. xo

I'm not a big sports-watcher either but the Olympics are pretty exciting. I've been watching. Did you catch any of the Skeleton? Those people are crazy going down that track head first!

And yes! Get a drill and make that soap dispenser! It looks awesome.

Happy Happy decorating. That is my favorite part of a new living space. Once the chaos of the move is finally done, just being able to sit back and enjoy making it your own.

I think that a self-portrait is a wonderful idea, and I have to agree that getting to know the faces of those we read is really nice.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend

Agreed: you're a cutie and there should be more photos of you in the world! I LOVE the wavy hair!

We have 2 drills (courtesy of husband) if you want them. I can even show you how to use them which is a doggone miracle.

If you need a running buddy for a road race - anywhere, any speed - I'm game. I am kind of a race junkie.

A monthly self portrait? I love that idea. There are never enough pictures of me. I know, that sounds selfish, but I do wish I had some sometimes, especially with my girls.

I love the self-portrait idea... I'm always amazed at how different each self-portrait is - like even when I see the faces behind the words, I still don't have a complete pictures... I love knowing more about who are than what you look like.

Looking forward to your self portraits...they are a challenge, aren't they? P.S. the more I read about knitting, the closer I come to learning to knit myself...I've put it off as I have so many crafts already. Hmmm.

Cute picture! Writing goals out on a blog, like running a road race this spring, is such a great way to make sure it happens...good for you!

yes so nice to see a self portrait:) I should do it more too. There are very little photos of me in the house, because I'm normally the one behind the camera.
Thanks so much for the link to the soap dispenser! I have seen ones like this on Etsy and have been wanting to buy one but postage to the other side of the world has held me back - never thought of making one myself!

what a great self portrait! Love the scarf/wrap you are wearing, too.

The Knitter's Almanac is the perfect winter reading...her use of language is so fun to read.

Love your picture! A monthly self-portrait is such a great idea and I *really* need to hop on the bandwagon.

I think as a little house(school)warming gift to yourself - you should get a fancy drill! Hey, it'll be your friend for life. :)

Can't wait to see your decorating results!

My man has a drill. Want to mail me your lid and I'll have him make one for both of us?
