My Friends are Awesome

My friends are awesome.  That's a fact.  I have come a long way from Jessica-of-15 who felt all out of sorts in the world.  Not really knowing who I was or how I was to fit into my little niche or really much of anything.  Feeling generally out of place in the comings and goings of the average teenage day.  Yikes, I don't think I really want to relive those days but then again there are so many things I would want to tell myself of then.  Oh well.

What did get me through was a few tight knit friends.  The friends that make life sweet.  The friends that know when your having a bad day just by feeling it.  The ones who will agree to silly escapades to walk in the rain--because it is not snowing.  The ones who can make a five minute phone call feel like we have just talked for an hour.  The ones who (at least pretend to) appreciate going into a yarn shop to touch fiber or a fabric shop 'just to see.'  The friends who smile when I feed them vegan cookies and wash them down with soy milk although they would really love a 'real' cookie and milk.  They wear my hand-knits with pride.  They generally make my days.

The other day I was on the phone with a friend going on and on about the forsythia.  I have a thing for it these days.  I'm sure my intermittent "Oh, there is some more forsythia" and "Isn't forsythia just the best right now" comments that were peppered throughout got in the way of our real conversation.  But-- my friends are awesome.  This friend found my car (not an easy thing to do--I travel for work) and put a bunch of forsythia on the windshield just to brighten my day.  It did.
