Today I was chatting with someone and she asked me if I made any New Years resolutions.
"I hadn't," I responded. I have made resolutions in the past and have met them after months and years of hard work and failed miserably at them by a few days into the new year. This year I made no resolutions. It's not that do not want to change things in my life- I do. It is certainly not that I am not setting new and challenging goals for myself- I am constantly doing this. Rather, I am choosing to look at what I am doing now well, how I can cherish these moments, and how I can life joyfully without constantly thinking about how I am not meeting my current resolution by not losing those ten pounds, advancing my education, skydiving, et cetera.
Instead I am looking at how the New Years light shines in the morning for just a bit longer every day. I'm sipping tea for a few more minutes. I'm staying up playing games with those I love since time together is really what matters.
Maybe I have made a resolution this year.
